Training and Refresher Courses

Rob Whitehead has been running hands on courses in silicone prosthetics and associated materials and techniques since 2006. Courses are normally held at CM Prosthetics although bespoke courses can be provided at your own unit.

Our courses are aimed at all levels of experience, and everyone can always learn something new! We aim to keep our course numbers small to enable maximum benefit to be gained from all attendees, especially as most courses are very practical based.

We strive to give the best and most informative information gained from years of personal experience in the very challenging world of Prosthetic Rehabilitation. For courses that use Invited Lecturers, we again aim to seek the best and most experienced in their specialist field.

Where applicable, all of our courses are organised and run to meet the criteria of the General Dental Council. This allows delegates to use the points as verifiable or non verifiable Continual Professional Development depending on the candidates preference and its relevance to their current practice.

Due to the nature of our courses and the many different materials, companies and Universities that we are currently in research projects with, some of our courses may be sponsored by them in order to keep delegate costs down. This does not mean however that we will be biased towards their products. We only use the best products and those that we know from years of experience actually work. We are not affiliated to any company and so can bring you details of materials that do the job in hand best.

Continual Professional Development

In order for delegates to gain Continual Professional Development points (CPD), all courses are organised and run to meet the relevant criteria.

On-Demand Courses

We understand that the dates listed may not be convenient for everyone so any of our standard courses can be made available at alternative times by arrangement.

What is a prosthesis?

A prosthesis is an artificial substitute for a missing part of your body.

Medical prostheses artificially restore patients who have facial or body defects due to malignancy, congenital deformity, or trauma. They offer hope to patients who cannot be surgically reconstructed and are used as a temporary measure for patients who are awaiting surgical reconstruction.

In order for the prosthesis to appear life like, every texture, form and pigmentation must be carefully matched. This requires several clinic visits as well as extensive laboratory work.

Aftercare

Our Services

CM Prosthetics provide specialist prosthetic services to both the National Health Service and the independent sector.

What care will my prosthesis need?

The type of care needed will depend on the materials used and the type of prosthetic.

Once we have fitted your new prosthesis we will supply you with all the information you need to care for it. We will also arrange for a follow-up appointment, to ensure that there are no problems with your prosthesis and that you are completely happy.
